Island Beach Access
Island Beach Access is a charitable organization whose Mission is to Identify, enhance and preserve beach access on Whidbey Island for current and further generations while respecting both public and private interests. We welcome your questions, concerns, and support!
Determining the boundaries of public and private shorelines is one of the most perplexing problems for beach-walkers and boaters alike. Existing signs are often not helpful or are misleading.
We are working to resolve these issues.
Our Goals:
Our activities
In 2017: After a long and costly legal battle, we secured permanent public access to Wonn Road on the E. side of GreenBank. This is a great launch site for kayakers.
In 2016-17: We worked with the Port of S. Whidbey to make Clinton Beach Park truly accessible for our mobility-impaired citizens.
In 2016-17: We worked with the SW Port Commission and Island County to remove barriers to public access to 3 major beaches: Shore Meadow Road, Robinson Beach, and Marissa Lane.
In 2018-19: We focused on improving access and signage on other beaches on South Whidbey, including Deer Lagoon, Sunlight, Robinson, and Clinton Park.
